1 down, 4 to go

Dear Daddy,

1 year without cancer (please oh please oh please oh God...let that still be the case).

1 year ago, as you were being wheeled into the OR and the narcotics started to course through your veins, your warned your wife that if she kissed you, she might get cancer.

What an exit.

And that's what we have tried to do this past year--take each step and stage of this recovery process with a lightness and sometimes humor (minus the narcotics). Last year was a tough one for so many reasons, but 2011 is our family's year. (And from all the research Mom has done, kissing doesn't transmit fact it's the under appreciated preventive medicine all 4 of us test on each other each day. Felix just happens to prefer the open mouth, tongue in throat kind. That, and we never let a day go by without saying "I love you" to each other.)
You can never say I love you too much. (Or as I, Miles, say: "I wuv you.")

Mommy wore her "touched by cancer shirt" to work along with a Livestrong headband (courtesy of RL, PNP extraordinaire)...and her Livestrong bracelet has still never been removed since the day she got it. Mommy was a little bummed that you didn't take your "survivor cancer shirt" to Europe with you to parade around in today, March 9, 2011, as you celebrate 1 year of being cancer instead, she forced us poor, helpless children into wearing it like a dress accented by Livestrong headbands, and took way too many pictures of us. (Secretly-we loved it.)

Daddy, you are our HERO.

We wuv you,
Miles and "Feces"

A closed mouthed kiss for Daddy!

This picture is the perfect representation of what it's like in our family each day. CRAZY FUN! (with lots of nudity...and open mouthed kisses...I'm speaking of the kids dirty minded readers!)

Rockin' the head tilt for you, Daddy!

1 year down...4 to go (excuse the possessed look!)
